- Unified Tag Team Championship: Chris Jericho & A Mystery Partner vs. Ted DiBiase & Cody Rhodes
Chris Jericho took the mic from Lillian and introduced a video of Edge talking about his injury. Jericho runs him down and asks “what about me?”. Chris Jericho’s partner is THE BIG SHOW. More like a big disappointment.
No idea if it’s the new tights, but Show looks slimmer. Jericho and Show are totally controlling the match. Neither Cole or Lawler have mentioned that Big Show is, or is supposed to be in the US title match.
Ted & Cody are working over Jericho right now, which is bringing out a Y2J chant. Beautiful moonsault by Rhodes onto Jericho. Jericho put Ted in the walls, but Rhodes got Show fired up to distract the ref, Rhodes then hit a DDT on Jericho.
Jericho made the hot tag to Big Show who cleared house. Jericho hit the code breaker on Ted which allowed Big Show to lock in the camel clutch for the victory.
Winner: Chris Jericho & The Big Show
Josh Matthews is with CM Punk. Punk doesn’t answer Josh’s question, but instead asks his own. Are you still behind Jeff Hardy after he told the truth? The crowd cheered. Punk took the mic and headed out to the fans.
Punk tells all the Jeff Hardy fans to stand up. Punk blames the parents – or parent. Punk is ripping on the parents of the kids now. My favourite heel. Punk reeled off booze, weed and more, the crowd cheered for it all. Shocking.
Instead of saying No, say Yes. Yes to a straight edge America and yes to CM Punk. Quite the great promo from Punk there.
- ECW Championship: Tommy Dreamer vs. Christian
Listen to the ovation for Tommy Dreamer to see how much the crowd loves him, says Matt Striker. It’s near silent.
Like the tag match, there is very little heat for this. In fact, there was little hear in the Punk promo.
Christian dropkicked Dreamer on the outside. Christian, however, missed a dive from the ring to the outside. Dreamer hit his fat-ass rolling dive, though.
Christian had Dreamer in the sleeper, but Dreamer sent himself and Christian over the top rope. Dreamer hit the dropkick in the corner and went for the DDT. Christian reversed it, but ended up getting hit with the sky high.
Christian went for something off the top rope, but Dreamer caught his legs and locked in the Texas cloverleaf. Both men traded near falls. Tommy reversed the kill switch, but Christian was quick enough to re-try it. Christian hit the kill switch and the crowd actually popped. 1-2-3. Christian wins the ECW Championship.
Winner: Christian
Post-match Dreamer extended his hand to Christian, Christian hugged Dreamer instead. That’s respect for your opponent, Lesnar.
- Jeff Hardy is on the Summerslam ad. Interesting.
- Big Show and Chris Jericho was interviewed by Grisham. Show said he and Chris aren’t friends. Jericho put over Big Show and said they’ll be the greatest tag team ever. Chris Jericho thanks Edge for making all this possible.
- United States Championship: Kofi Kingston vs. Primo vs. The Miz vs. Jack Swagger vs. MVP vs. Carlito
Primo is replacing The Big Show in this match.
Sky Box Office has lost the signal! Wait, it’s back.
Primo went right after Carlito, but Carlito bailed. Lots of guys coming and going. Loads of pins and break ups, too.
Carlito dived off the top to the floor onto MVP. Miz is currenly ruling the match. Well he was – Kofi and Primo went to double suplex Miz off, but Swagger powerbombed them off. Crowd is dead here, too. Carlito and Primo both hit cross bodies on each other.
MVP took himself and Swagger out of the match. Really cool spot between Kofi, Primo and Carlito. All three stopped pins by going for pins. Swagger clotheslined both the brothers. MVP came from behind and took out Swagger. Ballin’ elbow. MVP went for the playmaker, but Miz stopped it to hit his move. Swagger went down, too.
Carlito tricked his brother into helping him and then gave him the backstabber. Kofi came out of nowhere and spin kicked Carlito to retain the title.
Winner: Kofi Kingston
- Josh is with Randy Orton. He said it’s unfair Jericho picked Big Show. He is counting on Cena and HHH’s egos to mess their chances up. Maybe one day the people will respect him, said Orton.
- Womens Championship: Michelle McCool vs. Melina
McCool dropkicked Melina when she was doing her splits. Melina attacked McCool right at the bell. Melina’s offence is really poor. McCool moved out of the way of an oncoming Melina. Melina went through the ropes which allowed McCool to get the heat.
Jesus, the crowd is DEAD. McCool missed a big boot on the outside and went leg first over the rail. DDT on the security rail by McCool. Melina used her legs to ram McCool into the mat. Melina’s scream is SO annoying.
Belly-to-belly by McCool. Melina did some dive onto McCool, but McCool rolls her up for the victory. Wasn’t awful, expected worse.
Winner: Michelle McCool.
Crowd somewhat came alive when John Cena was shown on the screen. WOAH, the triple threat is next.
- WWE Championship: Randy Orton vs. John Cena vs. Triple H
Why do they keep calling it two years ago at Wrestlemania. It was at Wrestlemania 24, which was last year. Two years ago would be Wrestlemania 23, surely?
Mixed reaction for Cena. HHH was a pure babyface. Orton got a pop for the start of his theme.
Orton slowly rolled out of the ring at the start of the match. HHH and Cena went out there after him. So he rolled back in – as did they. Cena & HHH are working over Orton. Orton rolled to the outside again and tried to run off. Cena and HHH went after him and made him return to the ring.
Orton knocked Cena off the apron onto Hunter. HHH sent Cena packing but turned into a clothesline. Sometimes this crowd gets pretty loud for things, but it’s really quiet for alot. Quick scoop slam by Orton. HHH countered the RKO.
HHH hit a DDT on Orton which sent both men down. Cena returned to the top rope and did the leg drop to both men – well nearly. Neckbreaker by Orton to send Cena packing again. Orton countered the pedigree with a backdrop over the top rope.
Orton went for the second rope DDT on both men; however, Cena and HHH tossed Orton to the outside. Cena and HHH faced off in the middle of the ring. BOO-YAY punches from both men.
HHH counted the FU, and went for the pedigree. Cena counted that and went for the STFU. Hunter blocked again. FU blocked by HHH. PEDIGREE. Orton broke up the pin, though. The champ sent HHH into the steps and started to dismantle the Smackdown table.
Orton went to RKO HHH on the table, but HHH low blowed Orton. Cena stopped the pedigree and sent Orton into the crowd. Cena locked in the STF on the announce table. Orton put an end to the madness. More BOO-YAY punches, but with Orton and Cena now.
Orton is stalking Cena now. Cena blocked the RKO and tossed Orton across the ring. Cena positioned Orton on the top rope and went for a suplex. HHH pulled him down and had him on his shoulders. HHH was eventually sent down first into the top turnbuckle which made Orton go balls first on the turnbuckle.
Cena locked in the STF on HHH. Orton saw the chance to punt Cena, but Cena released the hold and rolled up Orton – like he did on Raw. 2 count, though. Garvin stomps to both HHH and Cena.
Orton is in total control of this match right now and is keeping both men grounded. As I write that, Cena and Hunter make a comeback. HHH locked in a sharpshooter. Bret Hart fans must be OUTRAGED. Cena locked in the STF while Orton was still in the sharpshooter. Orton tapped out, but for what?! The ref is confused.
LEGACY!
Ted & Cody beatdown both Cena and HHH. Cena went to FU Rhodes, but Orton RKO’d Cena and got the win.
Winner: Randy Orton.
- Miz tried to get with Maryse again, but she still blown him off (he wishes, though, right, guys?). Miz had enough and ripped into Maryse. Maryse was sad.
- Divas Championship: Maryse vs. Mickie James
Maryse threw her jacket at Mickie and hid behind the ref. HEEL! Maryse kept trying to dodge Mickie by grabbing the ropes or fleeing. Mickie went for a springboard, but Maryse blasted her in the face with a kick.
Sniff knee to Mickie by Maryse. Like the other women’s match, there is no heat from the crowd. Maryse went under the ring for the spray. Mickie kicked Maryse and took the spray herself. The ref took it from Mickie but on the outside, Mickie still had Maryse’s number.
Mickie went up top but Maryse moved. Maryse had her camel clutch locked in again. The crowd has been silent this entire match. Mickie hit a DDT and won the Divas Championship.
Winner: Mickie James
Josh Matthews is with Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes. Ted said stop talking negative, Orton is the champ. Cody has Big Show’s hand print on his chest.
- Intercontinental Championship: Rey Mysterio vs. Dolph Ziggler
Ziggler could really be made into a somebody in this match. We’ll see how it goes. Maria is with Dolph Ziggler tonight.
Ziggler is controlling Rey early on. Dueling chants! They botched a head scissors pretty bad. Rey was sent back first into the corner. There was a shot of Cole & Lawler just chillin’. Rey hit the springboard leg drop and the cross body, but he only got a 2.
Mysterio leg dropped Dolph from the apron. This crowd is terrible. Ziggler ducked the 619 and sent Rey to the outside. Chinlock by Ziggler. Full Nelson now. Mysterio had a breif comeback but Ziggler re-applied the full nelson.
Near falls by both men, and the crowd are still silent. Rey blocked a backdrop attempt and a ram into the post. He went for a move from the top, but Ziggler hit a pin-point dropkick. Close 2.
Ziggler ran at Rey, but Rey took his legs out from under him, which caused Ziggler to go flying. Huge gut buster from the top rope by Ziggler. Another close 2.
Ziggler is in 619 position, the big splash and that’s it. Rey wins. Well, Dolph wasn’t made. Match was fundamentally good, but the crowd killed it.
Winner: Rey Mysterio
- World Heavyweight Championship: CM Punk vs. Jeff Hardy
Punk is being a dick heel to Hardy at the start of the match. Punk went for the GTS early on but Hardy blocked it. Crowd is still terrible. Hardy went for a cross body but Punk ducked. Hardy went flying to the outside. Punk missed a dive through the middle rope.
Jeff went for the Swanton, but Punk rolled to the floor. Hardy dived to the outside, but Punk moved which sent Hardy into the rail. 9 count from the ref.
Punk is working over Hardy’s neck and back. This crowd is still sucking. Hardy sent Punk face first following a suplex from the second rope. Jeff hit his clotheslines and the leg drop to the lower stomach. Hardy was going for the whisper in the wind, but Punk shoved Jeff which caused him to go balls first on the top turnbuckle.
Punk went for the bulldog, but Jeff moved and hit the whisper in the wind. Jeff missed the Swanton bomb. Punk’s hit the double underhook backbreaker on Hardy and then locked in a dragon sleeper.
Hardy hit a twist of fate out of nowhere. Swanton! NO! Punk got the knees up. 2 and 3/4. The crowd actually made noise. Punk missed the clothesline from the top. GTS! 2 and 3/4 again. Punk tired two more pins but Jeff kicked out of them, too.
Punk took his belt and went to walk to the back. Jeff went after him and brought him back. Twist of fate. Swanton Bomb. YES. Jeff Hardy is the new World Heavyweight Champion.
Winner: Jeff Hardy
