According to Dave Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Bret Hart has signed with WWE and will likely be making his return on the 4th January show.

Word out is that Hart signed a short-term deal with WWE which covers the period from January 1st to April 10th.

The plan, in Hart’s mind, was to keep it a secret, but WWE couldn’t resist mentioning Hart’s name on last Monday’s Raw.

The deal between WWE and Hart, now 52, has been talked about since as far back as Summerslam. Back in June, the idea to bring Hart in as the GM of Raw was floated around, but nothing came of it.

As of right now, nothing is confirmed, but Meltzer also reports that one plan for Bret Hart is to have him actually wrestle.

Hart retired officially in 2000 following being unable to return to the ring after suffering a series of concussions in late 1999/early 2000.
