Jobless rate up in Butler, Warren counties

At the same time, the employment rate climbed to 62.3 percent in June from 59.6 percent in the prior month.
The rate hovered above the historic low of 3.2 percent for June in 1998, before the recession hit, according to the New York State Department of Labor.
As a whole, Wyoming's jobless rate increased slightly to 5.7 percent in June, up from May's 5.6 percent and higher than the national rate of 4.9 percent. In the corresponding month past year, the rate was 10.0 percent. "The unemployment rate remains low at 3.8 percent, with both the establishment survey and the household survey indicating positive but tepid job growth over the year".
Hancock County's unemployment rate was tied for fourth lowest in the state with DE and Holmes counties.
The jobless rate in the Watertown-Fort Drum area dipped to 4.9 percent last month from 5.9 percent in June 2015.
The U.S. jobless rate inched up to 4.9 percent in June from 4.7 percent in May. However, it, too, saw unemployment increase, from 2.5 percent in May to 3.1 percent in June. From May, unemployment rates decreased in 9 counties, increased in 78 counties, and did not change in one county.
She said that she's hearing, at least anecdotally, that some companies are having difficulty hiring, as the unemployment rate declines. The number of unemployed grew by nine people, to 353, last month.
Delaware's rate was 3.7 percent in June and the rate in Madison and Union was 3.8 percent.
The agency said 81,100 people were employed in the county June, up from 80,510 the previous month.
