Men's golf named All-Academic team by GCAA

For the sixth consecutive year, SIUE men's golf has earned recognition as an All-Academic Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). With a 3.344 GPA for the 2015-16 year, the men's golf team ranked second among all men's sports in the department. Other 2015-16 team members included Pete Conowell, Max Ernst, Matt Gordon, Jay Hargis, Ian Heizer and Will Murphy.
"Congratulations to the coaches and institutions that won the 2016 AVCA Team Academic Award", said AVCA Executive Director Kathy DeBoer.
There were 119 NCAA Division II teams that received the honor.
The St. Cloud State softball team will play three NCAA Division I teams on the road this fall, have a fundraiser and host its annual alumni game.
The AVCA presents the award to collegiate and high school programs that maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a scale of 4.0 or 4.1 on a scale of 5.0.
The winners were chosen based on the highest GPA of all student-athletes on a team roster at the conclusion of the last championship in the respective sport. Come and support the Unicorn Volleyball team in 2016-2017.
After the announcement earlier this week, DePaul has now earned the AVCA Team Academic Award nine straight years and 10 of the last 11 years. The men recorded a team GPA mark of 3.22 to be one of 122 teams garnering All-Academic status.
The Fighting Irish open the 2016-17 season by hosting the one day, 36-hole Kickoff Challenge on September 3 at the Warren Golf Course.
