Donald Trump apologizes for lewd comments about women recorded in 2005

Yet he claimed the astonishing revelations amounted to "nothing more than a distraction" and argued his words were not almost as egregious as former President Bill Clinton's marital affairs.

Trump issued an apology after the video emerged of him making sexually charged comments.

Hillary Clinton's campaign has made a practice of highlighting some of Donald Trump's most controversial statements, including his disparaging comments about women. He also brags about women letting him kiss and grab them because he is famous.

"I've gotta use some tic tacs, just in case I start kissing her", Trump says."You know I'm automatically attracted to beautiful - I just start kissing them". "You can do anything". They wrote that Trump "lacks the character, values, and experience to be President" and "weakens US moral authority as the leader of the free world". "Now, it is abundantly clear that the best thing for our country and our party is for Trump to step aside and allow a responsible, respectable Republican to lead the ticket". Obscenities and terms that disparage women are used throughout the recording. "Grab them by the pussy", Trump said in the audio.

Trump, who has been criticized for calling women "fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals", argued that such comments largely came before he was running for president and trying to promote his reality television show, "The Apprentice".

House Speaker Paul Ryan said he was "sickened" by Trump's remarks and angrily revoked an invitation for the real estate mogul to appear at a GOP event Saturday in Wisconsin.

Republican strategist Ron Bonjean said "this feels like it is quickly becoming a political "game over" for Trump. That person spoke on the condition of anonymity, because they were not authorized to share the private discussion.

Many GOP leaders and lawmakers condemned Trump's language. However, two Utah Republicans, Gov. Gary Herbert and Rep. Jason Chaffetz withdrew their endorsements, and former Gov. Jon Huntsman did call for the candidate to step aside and let Pence take his place.

Trump has also said he favors "extreme vetting" of people trying to enter the United States from countries that have serious terrorism problems.

Trump was riding in an "Access Hollywood" bus with host Billy Bush, heading to the set of "Days of Our Lives" to talk about Trump's cameo on the show. "I did try and fuck her". In recent months, Trump has said he would suspend immigration from countries where Islamist militants are active but has left vague as to whether this amounted to a narrowing or an expansion of his original policy position.Pence said in a round of television interviews that if elected on November 8, Trump would suspend immigration from "countries that have been compromised by terrorism".

Later in the tape, Trump can be heard shaking out what he says are tic-tacs, in case, he says, he kisses the soap opera actress he is about to meet.

Trump offered a half-hearted apology shortly after the video was released, saying he was sorry "if anyone was offended".

He apologized in a video statement released by his campaign after midnight early Saturday morning.

The ad then segues to an image of Trump looking stern as more text reads, "Donald Trump wants: Roe v. Wade overturned, abortion banned, Planned Parenthood defunded". Bill Clinton has said far worse to me on the golf course - not even close.

"This is horrific. We can not allow this man to become president", the tweet reads, with the Post's story linked below. Combining that trust with this level of ground game and advertising could help consolidate Hillary Clinton's advantage among women and millennial voters. In the speeches, Clinton advocates for more open borders and trade, a position she abandoned during the primary because it was politically untenable to Democratic progressives.

Trump strongly opposes current US trade deals and insists Clinton is too cozy with Wall Street to reform it.

The Republican nominee delivered an uneven performance in the first presidential debate - punctuated by his frequent interruptions of his female opponent - and then spent days after the debate renewing his past attacks on Alicia Machado, the 1995 victor of the Miss Universe pageant that Trump used to own, over her weight. But the day was quickly consumed by a series of controversies, including Trump's unsubstantiated claim about immigrants in the US illegally voting in the election and his questioning the innocence of five black teenagers exonerated in a 1989 rape case.

A copy of the letter was given to The Associated Press ahead of the group's push for others to sign on, as well as the release of the group's new website on Friday. For the first time, the USA publicly blamed the Russian government for hacking the Democratic National Committee and accused Moscow of trying to interfere with the American election.

Even before Friday's revelations, Trump was struggling to steady his campaign.
