Patrice Evra: French full-back joins Marseille from Juventus

Patrice Evra's time in Italy looks to be over after the Juventus man agreed a deal to return to France with Marseille.

The Juventus full-back has been the topic of much speculation over the January transfer window, drawing links to Manchester United, Valencia and Crystal Palace.

After deliberating over his future for a while, Evra chose to snub interest from the Premier League and completed a move to Marseille from Juventus earlier this week.

The 35-year-old defender has signed a one-year-and-a-half at the Stade Velodrome after losing game time at Juve.

Evra wil be officially unveiled at a news conference on Thursday night alongside Marseille president Jacques-Henri Eyraud and sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta.

There were multiple reports this evening that the left-back was already in France for a medical and to sign an 18-month contract.

The Frenchman helped the Turin side to consecutive Serie A championships and Coppa Italia triumphs, but had fallen down the pecking order at the club, making just three starts this season.

Marseille have completed the signing of Patrice Evra from Juventus, the Ligue 1 club have confirmed. "He's a great champion, a great professional and I'm sorry he's left", he said. "It is a privilege for me to be here", Evra insisted.
