Georges St-Pierre Will Challenge Michael Bisping For MW Title in Return

Georges St-Pierre's return to mixed martial arts will begin with a UFC middleweight championship fight against Michael Bisping.

St-Pierre left the sport holding the 170-pound title after a successful title defense vs. Johny Hendricks.

Fans have clamored for a matchup between St-Pierre and former middleweight champion Anderson Silva for years while some speculated that he could be next for the victor of the UFC 209 main event fight between Tyron Woodley and Stephen Thompson.

The two will meet for the 185-pound crown in the second half of 2017, according to the UFC.

Georges St-Pierre was listed at -150 while UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping came in at +120. If they were to offer that fight, as I said, there's been no word of that yet. And in his first fight in over three years?

"He wanted to take a break", White said on ESPN.

His entire time out of the Octagon, St-Pierre never said never to a return, frequently teasing a comeback.

St-Pierre was a pay-per-view heavyweight for the UFC at the time of his departure from the sport.

With Bisping now recovering from knee surgery, no date has been set for the fight as of yet.

Last month, White mentioned St-Pierre had broached the possibility of moving down to 155 pounds.

"He has to be tested by (US.Anti-Doping Agency) for the next three months".

Bisping (30-7) has won five consecutive bouts, the longest streak of his UFC career, and it's one that has led to him becoming the 185 lbs champion in the most improbable of circumstances. But we got together and had dinner in Las Vegas and got a deal done. "There's a lot of things that have to happen for Georges St-Pierre to come back, and then we'll pick a date". Georges St-Pierre is now listed as the -150 favorite.
