Critical notifications can also now sport a specific background colour, to really stand out from the crowd.
The Android O Developer Preview has simplified the way in which custom ringtones, alarm sounds, and notification sounds can be assigned. Its aim for 2017 is to roll out new tools that will protect users who install apps from outside Google Play and aren't supported by its existing systems.
The O Developer Preview includes an updated SDK with system images for testing on the official Android Emulator and on Nexus and Pixel devices (Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, Pixel, Pixel XL and Pixel C) devices. "These changes will make it easier to create apps that have minimal impact on a user's device and battery", says Dave Burke, VP of Engineering at Android. However, that wouldn't be a correct assessment of Google's next Android upgrade.
The upcoming mobile software of Google named as Android O has been designed in order to extend the battery life of any Android device. Google also claimed that through an expedited approval process, hardware and carrier approval times for security updates had been reduced from "over one month to less than one week". Google, a few days ago, had announced the second beta update for the Android Nougat 7.1.2 and had already started rolling it out to a bunch of eligible Pixel and Nexus handsets. Aside from that, the new operating system also let users perform multiple tasks simultaneously. So, make sure you know what you are signing up for before installing the update. We still have a long way to go before Android O comes out in its full form, so more features can be expected to jump to the board in the due course.
