Columbus record stores gear up for Record Store Day's 10th anniversary

The event will be held at the store with free beer, live music from featured artists, food, exclusive merchandise and limited edition releases.
Tempest will give an exclusive preview of a special track she recorded straight to vinyl at Abbey Road Studios to celebrate RSD.
RSD is the one day of the year when over 200 independent record shops all across the United Kingdom come together to celebrate their culture.
While there's only one Record Store Day a year, the organisation works with both independent and major labels throughout the year to create contests, special releases and promotions in order to spotlight the benefits of supporting these independent, locally owned stores with music purchases throughout the year. Brewer said the Rainbow Records crew looks forward to Record Store Day, which is celebrating its tenth year, because it is a way to bring the community together.
Hi business partner Jeb Taylor said Music Farmers has been involved in the annual event for all 10 years. A group of record store owners came up with the concept as a way to celebrate the unique culture surrounding their stores.
Saturday is sure to see the store filled with record collectors and enthusiasts, and a line wrapped around into the alleyway before they open, Wilson said. "We have already had customers ask about what we are ordering".

All kinds of special albums and CDs are being released just for Record Store Day.
"True audiophiles will tell you that listening to music on vinyl is still the best sound, and they're right", Robbins said. The vinyl revival began and 2016 marked the highest sales in vinyl records in the USA since 1988.
"It's the biggest day of the year for us", owner of The End Of All Music David Swider said. Like bookstores, record stores have had to become more efficient - and wiser - when it comes to inventory, supply chain management and customer service.
"Big Star couldn't find much commercial success during its lifetime, but its album "#1 Record" has been highly regarded by music critics and fans decades after its release.
Rainbow Records is one of just two official Record Store Day locations in the state.
"It's a good way to recognize independent mom and pop stores", Bernath said.
