Here's how you can download the (uncompleted) Windows 10 Creators Update right now.
Incidentally, Beam is also expected to come with the new Windows 10 Creators Update that's rolling out to the public on April 11, 2017. Pressing the Xbox button on your controller will pull up the newly enhanced Guide as an overlay on the left side of the screen. The company is releasing a new update for the OneNote app to Windows Insiders in the Fast Ring. The aim of this new update is to make streaming the gameplay from Xbox even easier. Beam is a Twitch competitor designed around offering more ways for audiences to interact with streamers, and Microsoft clearly sees it as a way to bring the popularity of game streaming back within its own domain. The update will be made available through Microsoft's Update Assistant and anyone who is using a licensed version of the Windows 10 can install the update a week ahead of the official rollout. The Magnifier and Narrator are important for navigating the system, while the new Copilot feature lets you remap buttons from one controller across two controllers, which is a powerful tool for those who have to use custom-made controllers to cater to their disabilities.
The announcement is noteworthy because millions of video gamers use Amazon's rival Twitch streaming service to chat and blast aliens with each other while playing games on Xbox One, as well as on personal computers and Sony's PlayStation consoles.
It is a big day for Xbox One players. In case you're a parent and your Xbox One feels a little too accessible, the update also adds a new feature for setting screen time limits on kids' accounts.
Getting access to Beam is as easy as launching the new Guide, which is at the heart of this major Xbox One update.
Also on Thursday, Microsoft reiterated its roll-out plan for the Creators Update. To do that, we've optimized for speed and are prioritizing the most valuable content for your games. The service's technology and integration with the Xbox One make it an ideal platform for enabling interactions between players and broadcasters. "As we've said, this is just the beginning - be on the lookout for more great features", said Microsoft.
The most noticeable change with this Xbox One update is, of course, the changes to the user interface (UI). The Beam Streaming utility allows you to livestream your game session and let others watch as you play. It should be noted that these features have been available for a while for testers of Xbox Insider Program.
