Michael Flynn In Talks With Congress, Wary Of Prosecution

Gen. Michael Flynn has agreed to testify before Congressional committees investigating alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russian officials under the condition that he can not be prosecuted.
Former national security adviser Michael Flynn is negotiating with the House and Senate intelligence committees to testify about any Trump campaign dealings with Russian Federation - after he's given immunity from prosecution, according to his lawyer.
Former Trump administration national security adviser Michael Flynn has disclosed that he earned more than $1.3 million for work for technology firms, political groups and government contractors as well as for speeches to Russian companies and lobbying for a firm owned by a Turkish businessman.
A congressional aide confirmed that discussions with the Senate intelligence committee involved immunity.
"When the time comes to consider requests for immunity from any witness, we will of course require a detailed proffer of any intended testimony", Schiff said. Citing officials, the paper reported on Thursday that Flynn had sought immunity from the FBI, House and Senate intelligence panels in exchange for his testimony.
Several hundred protesters greeted House intelligence committee chairman Devin Nunes (NOO'-nehs) on a visit to his home state of California.
Trump then claimed that was evidence to support his unproven claims on March 4 via Twitter that former President Barack Obama had his phones tapped during the campaign, a claim that Obama and FBI Director James Comey have denied.
Trump tweeted early Friday: "Mike Flynn should ask for immunity in that this is a witch hunt (excuse for big election loss), by media & Dems, of historic proportion!"
Flynn a year ago while campaigning with Trump said of Clinton campaign aides who had been granted immunity pursuant to the former secretary of state's email scandal: "The reason they get immunity is because they did something wrong, if they didn't do anything wrong, they don't think in terms of immunity", he said. It does not mean the individual seeking immunity has committed a crime, only that he or she fears prosecution on the basis of their words, which absent immunity, they would not utter, instead invoking their Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination.
Another said, "Get out of bed with Trump".
The ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, Adam Schiff, a Democrat, went to the White House on Friday to view documents at the invitation of the Trump administration.
He said the material should now be given to both congressional intelligence committees. Her chief of staff also received a limited form of immunity because Federal Bureau of Investigation agents wanted to inspect her computer.
Senator Angus King, a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, also said it was too soon to discuss immunity. They have not asked for immunity.

Flynn was sacked from his job as President Donald Trump's first national security adviser after it was disclosed that he misled the vice president about a conversation he had with the Russian ambassador to the US during the transition.
