Honor is a leading smartphone e-brand under the Huawei Group. At 6.93mm, it's actually thinner than an iPhone 7 Plus, but Honor hasn't overdone it - there's still plenty here to grip on to. It also includes an Honor Tripod/Selfie Stick. The clue is in the "Pro" part of the name - Honor has introduced a bunch of hardware improvements to net a bit more cash from consumers.
There are lots of shooting modes to explore, and Honor is pushing the photography features of this handset as a key selling point.
Since its launch here in 2015 Honor has meant mid-market and budget, but things have got confusingly lately - and got even more confusing today. The new flagship phone is provided with an ultra-thin housing having at its core a powerful octa-core Kirin 960 processor with a combined clock speed of 2.4 GHz and 1.8Ghz and 6 GB of RAM.
The smartphone features a 5.7-inch QHD (1440×2560 pixels) LTPS LCD display and is powered by Kirin 960 (4 Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz + 4 Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.4GHz) coupled with 6GB of RAM. Both phones benefit from a Micro SD card slot and USB Type C connectivity, mind.
Honor 8 Pro comes with 12 Megapixel primary and 12 Megapixel secondary rear camera with dual-LED flash and Phase Detection AutoFocus. Coming to the cameras, the phone scores well with a rear dual-12MP camera setup and an 8MP selfie shooter.
"With the Honor 8 Pro, we've gone to great lengths to make sure our users are equipped with the best battery performance so they can make the most of the handset's other impressive capabilities and maximise online experiences". If you want a mobile to keep you going for two to three years, we'd recommend bagging this handset over the standard Honor 8.
Considering that we don't expect this to be Honor's flagship, or should we say "only flagship" of 2017, there's a huge amount to be excited by here. Join us after the break for more details and images.
That said, the original Honor 8 is still just as sharp at a glance.
Design: The Honor 8 Pro is larger and heavier than the Honor 8, but marginally slimmer.
