The women's tennis team has earned a flawless multi-year Academic Progress Rate score in 11 of the 12 years the NCAA has released April data. NCAA sports falling below the established point Multi-Year cutoff (930) may be subject to penalties including scholarship reductions.
"I am blown away and proud of the success our student-athletes in the classroom", Marshall athletic director Mike Hamrick said in a HerdZone.com report.
Any student-athlete receiving athletic aid can earn up to four points per year for being academically eligible and remaining enrolled in the institution.
Men's basketball (955), women's basketball (987), football (964), men's golf (1,000), men's swimming and diving (987), women's tennis (1,000) and women's track and field (991) all recorded all-time high four-year rates for their programs.
An APR score is based on the eligibility, retention and graduation of players for each team created to provide a measurement of academic achievement for each semester. Three-point improvements in baseball and football four-year rates contributed to that increase.
It is the 13th year the NCAA has charted the Academic Progress Rate, which tracks performance of every Division I sport and athlete "like a report card", according to a release. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.
The APR is derived from data submitted by MSU for the 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16 academic years.
With women's basketball leading the way, all 12 intercollegiate teams at Eastern Washington surpassed the NCAA's academic threshold for competing in the postseason.
"This is a testament to the young women we have on our team and their commitment to being great students and great athletes".
Ohio State football's multi-year Academic Progress Rate is at its highest score since 2008-09.
In addition to national recognition, nine Alabama teams ranked among the top two in their respective sports in the SEC, with gymnastics, women's golf, men's cross country, women's tennis, and women's swimming and diving all ranked No. 1 in the league. When UConn's April fell below the required four-year rolling average, it was banned from postseason play in 2012-13.
Additionally, three UT programs (men's' tennis, women's basketball, women's swimming and diving) recorded flawless scores. Stanford, with a ideal 1,000 score, was first.
The lowest multi-year score of any of Auburn's teams was baseball at 958, but the Tigers did score a 971 in coach Butch Thompson's first year in 2015-16. Teams that don't have non-championship events out of season will be required to play fewer games. The average is based on the 17 April scores released for the University of Arkansas.
Alabama A&M men's basketball had a rate of 869 for the most recent four-year period and a 904 for the 2015-16 school year.
