Reema Lagoo, who played mother to top Bollywood actors, dies

Reema Lagoo breathed her last at 3 a.m in Mumbai's Kokilaben Hospital on Thursday, following a cardiac arrest. Speaking about her, Mohnish Behl said that it was very shocking to hear about her death, really as she was working till Thursday, May 18. There was nothing to indicate that Dave - who was at a meeting with Prime Minister Modi till late Wednesday night - had a serious heart problem, just as Lagoo's family said she had seemingly no health issues.

What she did in each and every film and on TV was all from her heart.

Arsheen Namdaar, who used to play Reema's granddaughter in the TV show Naamkarann, is equally shocked on this sudden mishap.

Rishi Kapoor, who co-starred with Reema in films such as ' Prem Granth, ' ' Shreemaan Aashique' and ' Henna', also attended the last rites of the actress.

Actor Rajiv Verma from Bhopal is seen with Reema Lagoo in various movies including Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Saath Saath Hain and more. She was a very pleasant and talented lady.

Rajiv Verma said, "She one of the finest actress I have ever known".

Born to Marathi actor Mandakini Bhadbhade on June 21, 1958, Lagoo ventured into acting after completing her secondary education. "She was always handsome and always smiling", added Rajiv. I feel sorry for people who haven't seen her work in Marathi films. There was no kind of generation gap with her, we could fool around since she would understand where we are coming from. Whichever role she did, it appeared as if it was cut out for her.

Reemaji and me got associated through a film "Aashiqui" which was my first musical blockbuster made in the "80s". She played the role of Viraf Patel's mother. I remember we did a play together when I was in Class VI and she was in Class X. We worked together in Shrimaan Shrimati.

Lagoo was recently felicitated with the V Shantaram Award of the state government for her contribution in the film industry. Karan Johar, who directed her in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai wrote, "This is truly sad news. she was warm, gracious and an exceptional actor". Now that Reema is no more, like Juhi points out, Sooraj Barjatya's films would be incomplete without Reema.
