Anne Hathaway Just Might Be Our Next Barbie

Is there a Barbie Dream House in Anne Hathaway's future? The film was previously set to star Amy Schumer, who had to back out due to a scheduling conflict. Hathaway's spokeswoman told Newsday, "There is no deal in place so all of this is premature".

The movie is said to be influenced by Splash, Enchanted and Big.

Although a director has yet to be announced, it is widely conjectured that Alethea Jones is in the running for the gig after getting the blessing from Hathaway.

"Ms. Pascal thinks she has finally cracked "Barbie" as a live-action comedy; negotiations are underway with an Oscar-winning actress for the tonally tricky title role". The Oscar-winning actress is in talks to star in the upcoming Barbie movie, a long-gestating project that, in its last incarnation, would have starred the stand-up comedian as a doll who gets kicked out of Barbieland for not being flawless enough. It is also now believed that Aletha Jones is being considered to direct, with Amy Pascal, Walter F. Parkes, and Laurie MacDonald of Sony co-producing in association with Mattel. The Barbie movie has a Jun 29, 2018 release date, and they need to make sure Hathaway can work that into her schedule. Schumer at first boarded the film in December at the end of the day dropped out, refering to planning clashes. Hathaway's commitment to Barbie will depend on her schedule, as she just signed on to topline the sci-fi movie O2 for IM Global. Her film Nasty Women with Rebel Wilson is in pre-production and Ocean's Eight with Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, and a whole slew of other powerhouse actresses is in post-production.

She is repped by CAA and Management 360.
