3 billion-view "Despacito" music video becomes most-watched on Youtube

Charlie Puth' unseated 'Gangnam Style' as the most watched video on YouTube, Luis Fonsi's 'Despacito ft. It only took 7 months to reach the historic number, that means it has been watched almost 15 million times every day, or 170 times per second.

Despacito has already become the most-streamed song of all time with over 4.6 billion streams across all the platforms.

Daddy Yankee on the other hand, in a video shared by TIME said, "Thank you YouTube for 'Despacito's success".

"Thank you to everybody involved ... thank you, the fans for celebrating this song with us".

It's hard to hold onto streaming records as online entertainment becomes ever more prevalent. The video has been watched more than three billions as of now, and will likely to pass that milestone in a matter of minutes. The song, meanwhile, is now in its twelfth week at the top of Billboard's Hot 100 chart. "Despacito" robbed Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again" of the title which had broken the record of Psy's "Gangnam Style" only a month back. While Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee are both featured singing in Spanish, the remixed version with Justin Bieber definitely gave the song some added popularity in English-speaking countries. The music industry has changed.
