PEC says it sent service and construction crews as well as two drones to help with damage assessments.
Pedernales Electric Cooperative sent 21 employees to the Tallahassee-area on Monday to help Talquiin Electric Cooperative with restoration efforts.
"Our crews are always prepared for when bad weather hits, but hurricanes and tropical storms are a special challenge", says Terry Barr, president of the Black Warrior Electric Board of Trustees. "We are proud of our crew who volunteered to restore power at Excelsior EMC as well as all of our linemen who keep NNEC's members' lights on".
While Tallahassee electric crews are now in a holding pattern, they are expected to try to go back out and restore power to residents later today.
The Kandiyohi Power Cooperative has also offered to provide assistance in the wake of Hurricane Irma.
Missouri took part in daily conference calls among electric cooperatives that were expected to need help and those that should be out of harm's way.
Most of the Missouri electric cooperatives will be sending a digger-derrick truck and a bucket truck to be prepared for anything they may find. These outage numbers continue to decrease, and highlight the resilience, preparedness and collaboration of electric cooperatives. The Okefenoke Rural Electric Membership Corporation along the Florida-Georgia line reported that 95 percent of its electric system was knocked out by the storm.
Relief crews are coordinated by the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives, the statewide service organization for the state's electric cooperatives.
