Stephen Paddock opened fire from the 32nd floor of a Las Vegas hotel on a concert crowd of 22,000, and with more than 50 dead and hundreds injured it is now considered the deadliest mass shooting in modern USA history.
Paddock's girlfriend Marilou Danley, 62, who was in the Philippines at the time of the shooting, was met by Federal Bureau of Investigation agents at the airport in Los Angeles late on Tuesday night, according to a law enforcement official.
Paddock also researched locations in Boston, NBC reported, citing multiple law enforcement sources.
Describing a timeline of events, Lombardo said it took police and Mandalay Bay hotel security 12 minutes after the first shots were heard to determine they came from the 32nd floor, where Paddock had rented a suite.
In addition to the cameras, investigators found a computer and 23 guns with him at the hotel, along with 12 "bump stock" devices that can enable a rifle to fire continuously, like an automatic weapon, authorities said.
On Twitter, Trump said Tuesday that "it is a "miracle" how fast the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police were able to find the demented shooter and stop him from even more killing!" Investigators are still piecing together the motives for the shooting that killed at least 58 people and are now focused on one thing: what do we know about Marilou Danley?
Danley said in her statement that Paddock had bought her an airline ticket to visit her family and wired her money to purchase property there, leading her to worry that he might be planning to break up with her.
At the evening news conference, FBI Las Vegas special agent in charge Aaron Rouse said several hours of interviews had been conducted with Danley, and that she was cooperating with investigators, and had not been taken into custody.
"The doctors, the nurses, all of the people at the hospital have done a job that's indescribable", he said during a visit to the University Medical Center in Las Vegas.
Officers on the ground can be seen working their way towards Mandalay Bay Resort, where gunman Stephen Paddock was shooting. It was not clear who or what exactly the money was for.
Las Vegas Sheriff Joe Lombardo, speaking at a Wednesday night news conference, said he remains unconvinced.
Trump said on October 3 that the police response to the situation was "in many ways, a miracle", according to The Washington Post.
"He loved her. He doted on her", the shooter's brother, Eric Paddock said. At least 10 firearms were found in the room, authorities said.
"I know she didn't know anything as well like us".
USA president Donald Trump visited Las Vegas on Wednesday, marking the first time since taking office that he has had to confront a major mass shooting.
Marilou Danley, an Australian woman initially sought in relation to the Las Vegas shooting. "She sends cookies to my mom". The FBI runs their name through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, which refers to three databases of offenders. If a person's record is clean - and Paddock evidently did not raise any red flags - he can buy as many guns as he wants.
