Jared Kushner hands over documents to Robert Mueller

With the Russian Federation investigation led by special counsel delivering indictments this week, Trump has blamed Kushner for such decisions as forcing Michael Flynn out of his job as White House national security adviser and firing James Comey as FBI director.

Mueller's investigators have expressed interest in Kushner as part of its probe into Russian meddling, including potential obstruction of justice in Comey's firing, informed sources told CNN on Thursday.

Sources close to the White House say that based on their knowledge, Kushner is not a target of the investigation.

The charges against former campaign chairperson Paul Manafort, which Trump himself said happened "long before" he joined the eventual GOP nominee's team.

Kushner also denied in a statement the allegations that he had proposed to set a secret communication channel with Moscow during the meeting with Russia's then-ambassador to the United States Sergei Kislyak, and said he did not recall any phone calls with the Russian ambassador during the campaign.

Ivanka Trump might be in an especially precarious position at the dinner table, trying to keep things agreeable between her father, President Donald Trump, and her husband, Jared Kushner.

In addition, Roger Stone, a longtime Trump adviser, also told Trump that Kushner was "giving him bad political advice".

CNN reported that Kushner, President Donald Trump's son-in-law, turned over the documents to Mueller "in recent weeks".

Manafort and business associate Rick Gates face 12 felony counts, including money laundering, conspiracy and acting as unregistered foreign agents.

"Jared is the worst political adviser in the White House in modern history", Sam Nunberg, a former Trump campaign operative, told Vanity Fair.

"Here's what Manafort's indictment tells me: Mueller is going to go over every financial dealing of Jared Kushner and the Trump Organization", Nunberg said. "I'm only saying publicly what everyone says behind the scenes at Fox News, in conservative media, and the Senate and Congress".

Although Kushner's name has not yet officially come up in Mueller's investigation, it appears it is about to happen soon. An NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released on Sunday put Mr. Trump's approval rating at 38 percent - the lowest for the survey since February, when he was a month into his presidency.
