Moon, Xi agree to 'normalize' ties 'in all areas'

South Korea's decision to allow US's THAAD missile defense system to be installed within its territory will also improve its bilateral relationships with China attracting Chinese Tourists.

Moon wrapped up his three-day trip to Da Nang and arrived in the Philippines for the third leg of his Southeast Asia trip Sunday, to attend Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) regional forums.

"I am very glad to see you again after four months", Moon said at the start of their bilateral summit held on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Economic Leaders' Meeting here in the Vietnamese city.

"With the North Korea situation at an important phase, the role China ought to play is very big", Abe said. There are also signs of a battle of nerves for economic leadership in the Asia-Pacific region between the United States and China, dominant players in the global economy.

The leaders of South Korea and China, moon Jae-In and XI Jinping have agreed on the peaceful settlement of relations with North Korea.

At the end of last month, the two countries put bilateral ties back on track after a yearlong standoff over the deployment of the US -led Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (Thaad) battery in Korea, and the recent summit further cements the normalization of relations. "The power of free trade has largely been what enabled South Korea to become one of the world's 10 strongest economies over the past fifty years". At the forum, Moon said that his country wanted to boost economic ties with Indonesia. This was stated in the office of the President of South Korea, reports Reuters.

Xi noted his meeting with the South Korean leader marked a turnaround in South Korea-China relations.
