The BBC have shared the first photo of Jodie Whittaker in character as Doctor Who. A nice coat is a Doctor Who must these days. Seeing the new Doctor's costume is kind of a rite of passage, for both the new actor and for fans of the show.
"To be honest I think she looks more like a presenter on Play School or Blue Peter rather than the Doctor", the Progtor Who Podcast tweeted. This took the internet by storm with tons of shows of approval came from the Whovian community, and now the internet is going wild again as the first image of Whittaker in her new World Health Organization duds is making the rounds.
With so much nods to her previous incarnations, Whittaker's Doctor is certainly one that remembers where she came from. In-story, the Doctor has the ability to regenerate after being killed, coming back with a new body. Attack The Block's Jodie Whittaker landed the gig, which was a very nice get for Doctor Who, indeed.
On Thursday, the BBC unveiled new star Jodie Whittaker's costume as the beloved Time Lord in advance of an expected fall 2018 debut for the show's 11th season (in the modern era). Similarly, the long coat was a signature piece of David Tennant's version of the character, and Whittaker's Doctor honors that with elegance and panache.
She will be joined in the cast by Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole, Mandip Gill and Sharon D Clarke.
Whittaker will appear as the new Doctor in this year's Christmas special, taking over the role from Peter Capaldi.
