Philadelphia 76ers center Jahlil Okafor (8) drives to the basket against New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday (11) during the National Basketball Association game between the Philadelphia 76ers and the New Orleans Pelicans at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, LA.
The Philadelphia Sixers are reportedly close to a deal that would trade Jahlil Okafor to the Brooklyn Nets, ESPN reported late Thursday afternoon. The Sixers are undergoing a franchise renaissance, armed with young superstars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. He couldn't top his rookie year to his sophomore-year as he averaged 11.8 points, 4.8 rebounds per game, and one block per game because his minutes dipped from 30 a game to 22. Okafor has largely been considered a bust and he asked for a contract buyout once the Sixers declined to pick up his option.
"I would like for them to just send me somewhere where I can get an opportunity", Okafor told ESPN last month. He will be a free agent following the 2017-18 season. He's only played six games this season because of the depth the 76ers have at the guard position.
Okafor has also struggled with injuries throughout his career, never playing more than 53 games in his first two seasons.
Booker, a seventh-year power forward, averaged 10.1 points and 6.6 rebounds in 22 minutes per game for the Nets this season.
