Watch the creepy trailer for Alita

20th Century Fox has released the first official trailer for Alita: Battle Angel, the feature film adaptation of Yukito Kishiro's Battle Angel Alita manga.

Rosa Salazar (Maze Runner series, Insurgent) takes the lead as the manga-eyed Alita, a cyborg found in pieces in a scrap heap by Dyson Ido (Christoph Waltz), who takes her home and restores her to, er, cyber-health. Cameron and Jon Landau are producers. That failed to find favor with critics or audiences and was considered one of the year's early bombs.

The result is Alita: Battle Angel, which combines actors who are either partially or completely computer-animated with live-action performances. She woke with no memory of her past life and no idea who she is.

"Robert and I have been looking for a film to do together for years, so I was pumped when he said he wanted to do 'Battle Angel, '" Cameron said in the 2015 announcement of the film. It's there, staring the viewer in the face as they watch the trailer play out. Unsure of her past, Alita embraces a new life as a bounty hunter while trying to recall life before the scrapyard. The first Alita: Battle Angel trailer is here to show us.

As we all know, Cameron opted to make the former, Avatar, which became the highest-grossing movie of all time. It is then that Alita discovers she has extraordinary fighting abilities that could be used to save the friends and family she's grown to love. In addition to Salazar and Waltz, the cast includes Mahershala Ali, Keean Johnson, Jennifer Connelly, Ed Skrein, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jackie Earle Haley. With Alita determined to uncover the truth behind her origin, deadly forces come after her and threaten her newfound relationships.
