Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is releasing later this year

Word of another Black Ops stemmed from one self-proclaimed "industry insider", Marcus Sellars.

The next game in the popular franchise could be Call of Duty: Black Ops IV, according to a report by Eurogamer. While the game itself is no surprise, the fact that it is coming to Nintendo Switch is. "The Switch version is being ported by a company already familiar with the Call of Duty titles and will be fully featured, including support for HD Rumble, DLC and motion controls". The Nintendo Switch version of the game has Activision on its side since it will facilitate the sales which are going through the roof. Call of Duty: Black Ops as a series within the franchise has had some of the best story telling in the single player campaigns and many look upon Black Ops fondly as this is Call of Duty at the height of its popularity.

The last time we saw Black Ops was in 2015's release of Black Ops 3, so given Activision's three-year development cycle for each of its three Call of Duty studios, a 2018 release for Black Ops 4 makes a lot of sense.

Even though it hasn't been confirmed by Activision just yet, we feel quite comfortable in saying that there'll be a Call of Duty game released in 2018.

Treyarch released Black Ops III in 2015, followed by Infinity Ward's Infinite Warfare in 2016 and Sledgehammer's WWII previous year.

Following the release of last year's World War II, the Call of Duty series is officially back to it roots.

This Treyarch-developed entry will land on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, but it's also coming to Nintendo Switch. Sadly there's not much else to go on other than it'll feature a modern setting and will keep its 'boots on the ground'. We still don't know when an announcement will arrive, but we might know what the announcement will be.
