Cleveland Cavaliers acquire Rodney Hood, George Hill in three-team trade

Rose was traded to Utah along with Jae Crowder as part of a deal that sent Rodney Hood and George Hill to Cleveland, and Joe Johnson to Sacramento.

All of a sudden, the Cavaliers are rolling out a likely starting lineup still anchored by LeBron James and supported by J.R. Smith and Tristan Thompson with Hill and Hood - two former teammates who helped the Jazz to 51 wins and a second-round playoff appearance last season. One of the players leaving the Cavs in that mega trade was point guard Derrick Rose who was moved to the Jazz. "While George Hill brings leadership and shot making ability as well as a 7'0" wingspan at the point guard position. According to Marc Stein of The New York Times, once he clears waivers the Minnesota Timberwolves are expected to make a run at signing Rose.

In separate deals, Cleveland shipped veteran guard Dwyane Wade to the Miami Heat for a second-round draft selection, and sent point guard Isaiah Thomas, forward Channing Frye and a 2018 protected first-round pick to the Los Angeles Lakers for shooting guard Jordan Clarkson and power forward Larry Nance Jr. Joe Johnson also goes from Utah to Sacramento in trade.

The 29-year-old signal caller first rose to stardom under Thibodeau's tutelage with the Chicago Bulls. He played just 16 games for the Cavs this season. The Cavs take on the Hawks on Friday.
