Average retail gasoline prices in San Bernardino have fallen 2.7 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.32 on Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 567 gas outlets in San Bernardino. That's five cents less than this day last week and 27 cents more than the price per gallon at this same time past year.
Gas prices in South Florida also declined last week even as they tend to run higher than the state average due to the higher cost of doing business here.
Around Connecticut, Bridgeport prices are down 4.8 cents per gallon from last week's $2.71/g.
47 of the nation's 50 states saw their average price of gasoline decline, while Hawaii, Indiana and Nevada were the lone three that saw average prices rise.
Miller says gas prices in Pennsylvania have not been this high since 2014, when the peak price was $3.81.
Spring refinery maintenance season always puts upward pressure on gas prices, and often drives prices to their highest point of the year, AAA said. During this time, refineries reduce output while they conduct scheduled maintenance on their equipment. Last week's figures showed only minor gains in production and inventory levels. Crude prices may continue to trend higher this week amid signs of continued growth in US oil production.
Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy, said today the declining trend in gas prices "may not be over just yet" after oil prices dropped in recent weeks. This month, domestic crude oil production exceeded 10 million barrels per day for the first time in decades. AAA advocates for the safety and mobility of its members and has been committed to outstanding road service for more than 100 years. That's an increase of around 15 percent.
