Brett Hundley has competition; Packers' CB room has holes after trade

John Dorsey pulled off his third trade of the day, sending second-year quarterback DeShone Kizer to the Packers for cornerback Damarious Randall.

As ESPN's Adam Schefter said on Twitter Friday, a full five days before trades can become official and 2018 free agency begins, the Packers have informed Randall, who intercepted a career-high four passes in 2017, that he's been traded to Cleveland.

"I believe in Brett Hundley. He has a big upside", McCarthy told reporters in Indianapolis.

McCarthy also fired quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt after the season.

Randall was sent to the locker room during a Week 4 win over the Bears at Lambeau Field. Adding him to the roster doesn't tip their hand should they have been looking at a couple players in the draft, like possibly Ohio State cornerback Denzel Ward or Alabama free safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. He's got to clean his own house. He did a lot of really good things. He also ran for 18 touchdowns and just under 1000 yards in those two seasons. Expect Kizer to compete with Brett Hundley for the backup gig behind Aaron Rodgers this offseason.

Cleveland selected the rifle-armed Kizer in the second round last year, and after a odd training camp in which he passed both Cody Kessler and Brock Osweiler on the depth chart, the 22-year-old was named the Browns' starter by coach Hue Jackson. "We'd like to be as aggressive as we can to try to improve our football team".
