But with the Cavaliers (44-30) remaining undermanned without shooting guard Kyle Korver, small forward Cedi Osman and power forward Kevin Love getting a tooth loosened and demonstrating concussion-like symptoms early in the game, LeBron James was not anxious about the team's potential after the loss.
Kevin Love suffered a pretty gross injury on Tuesday night during Cleveland's loss to Miami.
"The only update is, when he got hit in the mouth in the first half, we saw there was some blood coming from his mouth".
"When we had our looks, we had some really good looks, we just couldn't knock them down".
Cleveland came in averaging 31 points per quarter over its last five games, then managed only 34 in the first half against the Heat. Defensively they were disinterested (like most nights), Jeff Green was off (2-of-10 shooting), George Hill wasn't making an impact, Rodney Hood couldn't fill Love's shoes, and LeBron James was reminded Dwyane Wade is the greatest shot blocking guard the National Basketball Association has ever seen. But if the playoffs were to start today, they would still take on the Washington Wizards.
Josh Richardson and James Johnson each scored 15 points for Miami, which led 54-34 at halftime and has won 10 of its last 11 home games. "Our rhythm was broke just right from the beginning". Interim coach Larry Drew said Korver is expected back soon, though the team has not revealed if an exact comeback date has been determined.
Love will be re-evaluated on Wednesday morning, according to the team, at which point a determination will be made if he needs to enter the concussion protocol. Although there are only a couple weeks left in the regular season, a losing streak could cause Cleveland to slide in the Eastern Conference standings.
At this point, we have no idea what the severity of Love's injury is.
