Drunk man passes out in Uber, takes $1600 ride

'Basically, I kinda just blacked out.

Bachman said, "I was just shocked". The charges broke down as follows, per NJ.com: $2.35 booking fee, $3.94 base fare, $115.90 for time and $696.95 for distance. Things were more expensive because Bachman unintentionally ordered an UberXL, which can hold up to six passengers and is exponentially more expensive than the typical UberX.

Bachman said he realized the mix-up about two hours into the trip when he woke up but at that point, his options were limited so he chose to stick it out. Couldn't he just get out of the vehicle once he realized what was happening?

Speaking to CBS Philly about the five-hour trip, Kenneth admitted he didn't quite recall making the decision but woke up in the back seat to an older bloke telling him they were about an hour out from Jersey.

The driver was fined at every toll.

Unfortunately, surge pricing was in full effect, costing Bachman a lot more money than it would've typically cost him. Turns out, the Uber driver took him home to New Jersey over 300 miles away! It sure sounds like something Silicon Valley's Bachman might do.

It wasn't clear if Bachman meant to give the driver the address of where he was staying at WVU or really wanted to go back to Jersey. He claims the Uber driver had his phone when he woke up and even answered a FaceTime call from a friend while he was asleep. "He was on my phone, without me allowing it".

Kenny Bachman, who had been drinking, slept for much of his ride from West Virginia to New Jersey.

He says he unsuccessfully challenged the fare with Uber, which confirmed that the ride occurred.
