Mario is invading Google Maps this week

However, do be careful not to share any personal information you don't want others to see, such as your home address.

That's right, March 10 (or MAR10 for short) is officially the day to commemorate the iconic plumber in red, and Google is celebrating in a special way. To try it out, install the latest update to Google Maps for Android or iOS. Clicking on it will prompt up a window telling you it's Mario Time and asking you to choose between 'LET'S-A-GO!' or 'NO THANKS'. Once it is enabled, you will see the Mario driving a Mario Kart vehicle on the Google Maps navigation arrow.

As always, respect the rules of the road.

There's no way to play Mario Kart in real life, but you can at least feel like it's a proper thing as Mario joins forces with Google Maps this week (but please be safe, folks). We need to stress that, as Google told us there's no sharing of actual paths here. So if you unlock the game's premium features through in-app purchase, it will cost you just $4.99 instead of 9.99.

"Just keep in mind to practise safe driving on the road", Google Maps' official blog says.

Later, Google confirmed that users could soon turn their app into "Mario mode" in honor of "Mario Day", which is celebrated on March 10. The mustachioed plumber will also help you various deals and sales on Nintendo games. Sound off with some of your most treasured Super Mario Bros. memories in the comment section below, let's celebrate together! He'll be a constant companion wherever you're driving this week-to work, to school, or the spaghetti house.

It also appears that Mario is the only icon you can change your arrow to so no chance of copping a random Waluigi on your map.
