Woman tries to open cabin door mid-flight, screams 'I am God'

Passengers onboard United Express Flight 5449 restrained a Boise, Idaho, woman who was ranting about being God.

Video from a SkyWest flight shows passengers trying to restrain a woman who attempted to open a cabin door mid-flight.

Boise police confirmed that officers responded to reports of an "unruly passenger" aboard the flight. She was later taken into custody and handed over to the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare for evaluation, KBOI reported.

"She wasn't acting right or normal from the very beginning [of the flight]", passenger Scott T. Smith said.

Afterwards, the woman was apprehended by police, and is now being evaluated by mental health workers.

The woman was filmed shouting, "I am God". The California resident said the woman was seated with a companion in first class, and she appeared to be apprehensive when the flight departed. "The flight staff were real calm. Get me off this plane!" she was heard saying.

The airline added that all the other passengers were able to safely disembark and no one was hurt in the incident. "Get me off this plane!" the woman reportedly yelled, before running for the exit, passengers told KBOI. "I could tell that one or both were uneasy with flying".

The woman was restrained until law enforcement officials arrive at the gate in Boise, according to SkyWest's statement.

The FBI has launched an investigation into the mid-air drama, and possible charges have been referred to the prosecutor's office. "The unruly customer was held for questioning by law enforcement".
