NBC Nightly News Covers Allegations Against Former Anchor Tom Brokaw

Lauer, fired past year for inappropriate conduct involving a NBC employee, made his first comments since leaving and denied forcing himself on anyone at the network.

Brokaw also throws in a tidbit that she had "mixed success" on the overnight news shift, and that her TODAY show audition did not go well.

Savannah Guthrie anchored tonight's newscast, filling in for Lester Holt, with Kate Snow reporting on their longtime colleague.

"Matt was genuinely surprised Ann spoke to The Washington Post on the record stating she had gone to management at NBC while [they] both were anchors of Today and made a complaint on behalf of someone that he had been sexually harassing the staff member", the insider tells Us. [A] s I write this at dawn on the morning after a drive by shooting by Vester, the Washington Post and Variety, I am stunned by the free ride given a woman with a grudge against NBC News, no distinctive credentials or issue passions while at FOX.

"Back then had she reported something like this, I don't think anyone would've blinked", said Sarah Ellison of The Washington Post.

"Tom has treated each of us with fairness and respect". She said Brokaw went to her NY hotel room once in the mid-1990s, proposed an affair and tried to forcibly kiss her.

Does Brokaw believe that only accusations made by well-known public figures be taken seriously? Brokaw wrote that Vester sought him out for the meeting in the NY hotel room, a characterization she rejects.

But Brokaw, 78 and married since 1962, rejected Vester's accounts of what happened between them.

The report additionally detailed the claims of an nameless girl who informed the outlet Brokaw allegedly acted inappropriately towards her throughout her time as a manufacturing assistant within the 1990s.

Vester has not responded to Brokaw's recent comments.

"I emphatically did not verbally and physically attack her and suggest an affair in language right out of pulp fiction", Brokaw reportedly said in his email to colleagues.

Vester was a correspondent and anchor at NBC until 1999, when she moved to Fox News. "Not in high school, college or thereafter".

The Hartford Courant reports Sacred Heart University announced the cancellation Friday.

In his memo Friday, Mr. Lack said the review-led by NBC General Counsel Kim Harris, whom he said "has extensive experience in conducting reviews of this kind"-is nearing its conclusion, with findings to be shared as soon as next week".
