According to police, the pooping occurred at nearby Holmdel High School, where students and staff complained of finding human poop near the track and football field on a daily basis.
The Kenilworth schools superintendent was arrested after surveillance video caught him in the act on Holmdel High School's football field.
Fox News reports that Tramaglini was arrested while running on the athletic fields' track just before 6 a.m. Monday, NJ.com reported.
In addition to defecating in public, he was charged with lewdness and littering.
He lives several miles from the high school, but is the superintendent of Kenilworth Public Schools, another school district in New Jersey. Why would a person making almost $150,000 a year risk it all by pooping in public? Local police set up a sting operation - yes, a poop dragnet, run with this however you want - and shortly thereafter caught a most unlikely suspect.
Tramaglini has taken a paid leave of absence from his $147,504 a year job in Kenilworth. "(Leaves can only be without pay in the face of indictments or tenure charges, as a matter of state law)", stated the post.
It is unclear why Mr Tramaglini allegedly did not use toilet facilities.
Social media jokesters have dubbed the culprit "the super pooper" or the "poopetrator".
