One moment the trailer is in a desert, much like the first game, and then dense and sun-choked forests are shown. As a result, we're banking on this being either a late 2018 or early 2019 arrival, but either way it's got the makings a Game of the Year contender written all over it.
Rage 2 is real after all.
Which platforms will Rage 2 be released on?
Pre-Order for RAGE 2 is available right now priced at $59.99 implementing several pre-order bonuses.
The original "Rage" released back in 2011, and was developed by id Software. Tune into the BE3 Showcase on Sunday, June 10, at 6:30pm PT for more gameplay and details.
"Born from a collaboration of the Gods of Shooters, id Software, and the Masters of Open World Mayhem, Avalanche Studios, RAGE 2 packs a carnival of carnage so intense it can only come from two legendary AAA studios".
However, just because Rage 2 will not feature loot boxes doesn't mean that the game will not feature microtransactions, another business model that has also been criticized by some.
Loot boxes have been a major source of contention in the games industry recently, with many gamers taking developers and publishers to task over the random rewards systems. Expect to see more of "Rage 2" at next month's Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles.
We will play for Walker, the last Ranger of the Badlands, which is a hard path of struggle against oppressive Government. The game takes place in 2185, an era of apocalypse due to an asteroid wiping out 80 percent of the population. Walker must face off against a number of different factions to take down the evil Authority (and its leader, General Cross) in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
But for the record you play as the last Ranger of the wasteland who's looking to "crush the oppressive rule of The Authority once and for all". As expected, RAGE 2 will have some sort of storyline apart from the following, however, no further information has been revealed.
Last week, a Wal-Mart listing premature revealed Rage 2 (along with some other titles).
Bethesda's calling it "more than a shooter, more than an open world game - it's a shooterverse". Luckily it seems to be the case that if you can see it, you can drive it, a la GTA.
So it's possible that the Rage 2 gameplay launches at the same time today.
