State of Decay 2 players have killed over 675 million zombies

In just two days after its global launch on Xbox One and PC, State of Decay 2 racked up over one million players.

Neither Sony's PS4 or Nintendo's Switch now offer anything like the Xbox Game Pass, which offers a large downloadable library of games for a fixed price each month. Since the game came out on May 18th for Ultimate Edition owners, it really took the game about a week to hit a million players. Microsoft recently announced plans to launch every one of their first party titles on Game Pass same day as release. Gamers have also watched 3.5M hours of gameplay across Mixer, Twitch and YouTube Gaming from over 41,000 unique broadcasts.

According to Microsoft, during this time over 675 million zombies have been killed, 6 million firecrackers and fireworks have been thrown, and 6 million bags of snacks were eaten, .

State of Decay 2 shuffles to 1 million players less than a week after launch
State of Decay 2 had over 1 million players within two days of release

State of Decay 2's player count likely comes in part due to the game's inclusion in Game Pass at launch. But in this new world of Microsoft finding other metrics for success, crossing the million player mark is notable on a video game platform that is being outsold, probably dramatically, by the market leader. Focused on improving the content is Undead Labs' number one priority, and therefore we genuinely expect to see a higher number of players.

Microsoft also added that they are looking forward to address bugs and issues. It's an Xbox Play Anywhere game, so buying a digital version of the title on Xbox grants access to a free Windows 10 version and vice versa.
