On Wednesday, the Madras high court refused to stay the release of Kaala based on a plea that claimed that the film projected Thiraviyam Nadar and his family in bad light.
Rajinikanth-starrer film "Kaala" on Thursday became the first ever Indian film to release in Saudi Arabia after theatres were opened in the conservative country in April after 35 years hiatus.
Suprestar Rajinikanth starrer "Kaala" has earned Rs 230 crore in pre-release business.
Movie theatres are adorned with grand posters and hoardings of Rajinikanth's film and it's no less than a festival for fans of Rajinikanth worldwide today.
Producer and distributor Kanakapura Srinivas told The New Indian Express that he was getting 250 theatres to agree to screening of the film from Friday onwards. "But we hope they have some great story to be shared which may be liked and the film does well", said Mohan. Now the chief minister of Karnataka says the release should be delayed till after the Cauvery row is resolved.
"I have not been following 'Kaala' release or its prospects, but I would imagine, the socio-political stand Rajini sir has taken in the past one year people might have started looking at him differently from the demi-god that he used to be", he said.
Yesterday, the Karnataka High Court had asked the state to provide security to the theatres screening the film. "There is no question of seeking an apology but the actor should state that he will help resolve the Cauvery issue", Sa Ra Govindu, president of the Karnataka Film Chambers of Commerce (KFCC) and pro-Kannada activist said.
Police on guard outside Lido Mall in Bengaluru following protestes by pro Kannada groups against the release of Rajinikanth's latest movie Kaala on Thursday. Also his last few films haven't done well.
