After not being able to cut to 185 pounds in his last fight - an interim middleweight championship bout against Luke Rockhold - Romero weighed in at 185.2 pounds on Friday morning ahead of the middleweight title fight against Robert Whittaker in Chicago.
But Whittaker has agreed to save the main event and face him in a non-title bout. As a result of Romero missing weight, Rockhold could only win the interim title if he won the fight.
Now recovered from a staph infection and a nasty case of chickenpox, Whittaker is ready to get back in the Octagon with the "Soldier of God".
"There wouldn't be a fight", Whittaker said.
"It's very hard. We come here to fight for the title", Romero said. However, his second attempt had him at 0.2 pounds overweight. "Why would I? I might as well fight someone heavier than me". "I call it like I see it, a racist is a racist". If he does, I'm sure I'll adapt and I'll be prepared... Am I gonna get furious at you because you can't sit through a bad television show?
Australian Megan Anderson and her featherweight opponent - former bantamweight world champion Holly Holm - each logged the same weight.
Title contender Yoel Romero is not happy with the IL commission.
Explosive Sydney heavyweight Tai Tuivasa weighed in nearly five and a half kilos heavier than former world champion Andrei Arlovski.
