Giroud hopes 'living legend' Henry manages France some day

Henry, a World Cup victor with France in 1998, will switch allegiances for Tuesday's World Cup semi-final as he is a coach in Roberto Martinez's Belgium backroom staff.

Statistically speaking, France had Belgium's number when it came to taking shots for most of the game.

"It's freakish because he's French and will be on the opponent's bench", Deschamps told French sports show Telefoot on Sunday. "I would be very proud to show Thierry that he chose the wrong camp".

"For me, he is one of the three best players I have ever played with in my whole career".

"The president will arrive to the France v Belgium match as part of a delegation in order to support his national team, as he said he would do if they advance to the semi-finals".

"France were one of the favourites before the World Cup and I think the game will be tougher than against Brazil due to their individual quality", he said.

But Belgium are counting on stars of their own like Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne.

Giroud has played 380 minutes of France's 2018 World Cup campaign, but is yet to score.

French teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe shattered Leo Messi's World Cup dreams when he scored a brace in the quarterfinals of the tournaments when Argentina went head to head against France. But we will be ready because we have an extremely good state of mind and it is the semi-finals in the World Cup.

"I would've preferred him to be with us, for him to give me and the other French attackers advice, but I am not jealous". That evenness is why France is the team to beat in the mind of Jeffrey Marcus, publisher of the World Cup newsletter "The Banter".
