Trump delays meeting with Putin, citing 'Russian witch hunt'

Trump has said there was no collusion between his campaign and Russian Federation.

Trump's lawyers continue to negotiate on terms of an interview with Mueller and have offered to make the president available exclusively to answer questions about whether his campaign colluded with Russian Federation.

The President caused consternation last Monday when he indicated he trusted Mr Putin's denial of interfering in the USA presidential elections over the conclusions of his own intelligence community.

He has previously boasted that Mr Putin thought he was a "genius" and said "getting along with Russian Federation is a good thing".

The US President backed up his eyebrow-raising statement by insisting "no President has been tougher on Russian Federation than me" and "they definitely don't want Trump!"

The Republican leaders in Congress are distancing themselves from President Donald Trump's invitation for Vladimir Putin to visit Washington in the fall, saying the Russian president is not welcome on Capitol Hill. Bolton's statement suggested the White House would wait until next year, after special counsel Robert Mueller wrapped up his investigation into Russian influence of the 2016 election.

But it left her wondering, she said, "Why do they want to do that?"

Mr Putin said at the summit he would allow the U.S. to interrogate the officials, provided Russian Federation could do the same in America, something Mr Trump called an "interesting idea", to the great concern of senior USA security advisers.

In addition to placing sectoral sanctions on Russia's cyber actors, the legislation would further require the Senate to sign off on any USA exit from North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, amid bipartisan criticism of President Donald Trump's commitment to the transatlantic alliance. I have tremendous faith in Dan Coats.

In Wednesday's White House statement, Bolton indicated the Mueller probe would be over by January 1. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., and has since picked up four other Democrats and five more Republicans as co-sponsors, including Collins.

The legislation, deep inside a massive bill authorizing US military programs, still has to be approved by the full House and Senate.

Then-FBI Director James Comey told the House intelligence committee in March of 2017 that Russian cyber operatives also targeted the Republican Party or related organizations or people at the same time they were accessing the systems of Democrats to hurt Clinton.

Recall, July 16, in Helsinki behind closed doors had an official meeting Donald trump and Vladimir Putin.

They could begin to do so, or unleash the results of ongoing cyberattacks or take some other action between now and Election Day - for example, try to increase the volume on political controversy inside the United States by using Twitter and Facebook and other social networks as was the case in 2016.

"We need a vigorous response" that can be put in place quickly, Collins said.
