A year on, Xiaomi is renewing its collaboration with Google to launch two Android One phones. Considering the software build, the Xiaomi Android One device has the latest Android Oreo 8.1 OS and added smart features, especially in the Mi A2 smartphones. This year's Xiaomi Mi A2 is based on a almost identical hardware to that of the Mi 6X - the successor to the Mi 5X.
The Mi A2 starts at a price of €249 (Rs. 20,071.20 approx) for the 32GB variant, with the 64GB costing around €279 (Rs. 22,500.42 approx), and the 128GB variant around €349 (Rs. 28,145.69 approx). The Xiaomi Mi A2 is a mid-range handset that offers some worthwhile specs, while the Mi A2 Lite is going to be the cheaper of the pair, even as it scales back some of the features.
The Xiaomi Mi A1 and Mi A2
The display on the Mi A2 is 5.99-inches large with Gorilla Glass 5 on top. It has powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset that houses the Adreno 512 GPU. On the front, Xiaomi Mi A2 has a 20-megapixel selfie camera capable of delivering bokeh mode (DSLR-like shallow depth-of-field).
In terms of imaging, the Mi A2 would have a dual-camera set-up on the back and a single selfie camera with LED flashlight on the front. While not much has changed from the Mi A1 to the Mi A2, there are still a few things that the company has made a decision to differently with the latter. The smartphone features a 6.9-inch IPS LCD panel that will flaunt a full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080, along with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The new smartphones are expected to come with multiple options, including 3GB or 4GB RAM, and 32GB or 64GB of inbuilt storage.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 is backed by a 3010 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 and it runs on Android 8.1 Oreo and it falls under Android One programme from Google. This means the phone will have slimmer bezels around the screen, like other Xiaomi phones have launched this year. The base model of the Mi A2 Lite with a 3GB/32GB memory configuration will have a €179 price tag and the 4GB/64GB version will be offered at €229. Inside are a 12MP Sony IMX486 sensor and a 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor - keep that in mind for future phone camera battles. Xiaomi is huge in India, so we should see the brand launching both devices in the country shortly. At the front end, the device receives a 20MP camera with HDR options and soft selfie light, making it flawless for selfies and video calling.
