IPhone XS release date, news and rumors

Apple has set September 12 as its most important day of the year when the world's most valuable public company will unveil the next iPhones.

So, if you love all things Apple, it seems September 12 is the date you definitely need to put in your diary.

The 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch iPhones will come with OLED displays and likely a new and faster A12 processor and improved dual cameras.

It's hard to say what pricing for this model may be around, though it'll no doubt be higher than what the Apple Watch 3 line now offers.

Apple's event invitation made heavy use of the color gold, fueling speculation on social media that the company plans to launch a gold-colored successor to the iPhone X, which was made available only in silver and gray past year. There are a few plausible explanations for what Apple may be planning for Year Seven of the Tim Cook Era.

The tech giant is expected to unveil three new iPhones at the event: a 5.8-inch device with an OLED display, a 6.1-inch handset with an LCD screen and a 6.5-inch iPhone with an OLED panel. Most of the other design elements look the same.

The third phone will be a budget model, and the lower cost will reportedly be achieved with aluminum edges instead of a stainless steel casing and the cheaper LED screen. While the shape of this Apple Watch looks similar to the current model, it looks like Apple has slimmed the bezels to give the watch a larger display. This iPhone is also expected to only have a single rear camera.

The Apple Watch isn't an iPhone-like revenue generator, but is part of the company's growing Other Products segment. One of these two models will have a reported 6.5-inch screen, which would make it the largest iPhone yet. While 3D Touch is expected to stay when it comes to this year's upcoming iPhone release, the 2019 lineup might bid it farewell, says Barclays analyst Blayne Curtis, according to MacRumors.
