From there, the differences are minor, with one huge exception: The iPhone XS Max will be the company's largest phone ever.
What's different is that the iPhone XS Max takes size to the next level with a 6.5-inch screen, the largest display on an iPhone yet. On the back of the device is a vertical camera setup which houses two cameras and a flash. Finally, Apple also announced the new iPhone models support Gigabit-class LTE speeds. The 512GB iPhone XS Max will put a €1,300 dent in your pocket.
When Apple introduced the iPhone X previous year at a starting price of $999, some analysts were sceptical that people would pay so much.
Customers will be able to pre-order the new iPhone series from Friday, 14 September, and purchase in stores from 21 September. Apple also shared that the second wave of shipment will begin on September 28. The new 12 megapixel cameras have bigger sensors and an improved HDR mode.
The display on the iPhone XS Max has 3.3 million pixels and the same pixel density as the iPhone XS.
The iPhone XR also gets dualSIM support.
The Apple Inc. iPhone XR smartphone is displayed during an event at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California, U.S., on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018. The XR, meanwhile, is a "budget" (by Apple standards) variant that uses an LCD display panel and has only one camera. As for the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max lineup, Cook says, that it is "the most advanced iPhone we have ever created".
Appearing at the Apple event, Dr. Ivor Benjamin, president of the American Heart Association, called the heart-monitoring features "game changing", especially the ability to detect an irregular heart rhythm, known as atrial fibrillation.
And sure, you can use the company's AirPods, which Apple will, of course, happily sell you for $159.
It will also be more energy efficient, which means that the new iPhones' batteries will last up to 30 minutes longer on a single charge, Apple suggests. "The smartphone's base model starts at $749, and comes in six surprisingly vibrant colors - white, black, blue, yellow, coral, and the oddly-named "(PRODUCT) RED".
If that claim is accurate, it'll be interesting to see it in action; Face ID in the iPhone X is fast, but there's still room for improvement.
Pictures of Apple's upcoming iPhone purportedly leaked last month on a well-known Apple blog.
The Series 4 features the largest display compared to any Apple Watch.
