Leicester 1, Liverpool 2: Firmino, Mane save Alisson

A gritty 2-1 win at Leicester City on Saturday places the Reds top of the Premier League during the first worldwide break of 2018-19 with 12 points from four games.

The Reds weren't at their best but managed to get past the Foxes thanks to Roberto Firmino's first goal of the season and one from Sadio Mane.

The ball became caught under Alisson's feet and substitute Kelechi Iheanacho stole possession to tee up Rachid Ghezzal, who dutifully slotted home the goal.

To be fair, Alisson did warn fans that he has a high-risk style of play prior to the game.

The Liverpool manager rotated in the group phase last season when Loris Karius started all six games against Sevilla, Spartak Moscow and Maribor, while Simon Mignolet was the confirmed first choice.

"It is part of my game [playing out from the back with his feet] but I am not going to be arrogant to stand here and say I'm going to keep doing it".

"If you are flying constantly, you are not prepared for the hard moments - you can not be prepared - so we are".

"It wasn't a good performance from us in most aspects, really - pressing, defending, keeping the ball".

Fortunately for Alisson and Liverpool, the mistake didn't cost them, something that Klopp was obviously happy about.

Firmino has shifted the blame for that goal onto Virgil van Dijk, who played the pass back to the goalkeeper.

"I am angry that I made a mistake", said the 25-year-old.

After scoring nine and conceding just one in their winning start to the campaign, Liverpool certainly have momentum.

"We have to learn from our mistakes".

"I've just got to stay focused and try to keep going".

It was the first goal scored against Liverpool this season but the Reds remain unbeaten and ensured they maintained their 100 per cent start.

Ghana defender Daniel Amartey came off the bench for Leicester City as they lost to Liverpool in the English Premier League on Sunday.

Despite his tremendous skill level, Alisson has been known to make careless mistakes from time to time.

It was a very entertaining game played in a terrific atmosphere and I really enjoyed everything about the match-apart from the result.
