But Ms. Nixon, who is gay, says polling doesn't capture hundreds of thousands of people who have registered to vote over the last two years, and she points to a recent mailer from Cuomo allies casting her as anti-Semitic as evidence the race is close.
Comedian Amy Schumer says she voted for Cynthia Nixon after all - in a surprise last-minute flip-flop just days after switching allegiances to incumbent Gov. Cuomo. In the final debates, Maloney and Eve - who has struggled to break out of single digits - have attacked Teachout for only recently passing the NY bar and for not rejecting "corporate" money in her 2016 run.
On Sunday, Cynthia Nixon became the latest aspiring office-holder to briefly lose her mind while attempting to eat on the campaign trail, when she ordered-in public and on purpose-a cinnamon raisin bagel with lox from Zabar's on the Upper West Side. But the span did not open as planned, as engineers said the old bridge could collapse and endanger the new one.
While the contours of the Democratic race in NY look similar to those upsets, Nixon, best known for her Emmy-winning role on HBO's "Sex and the City", has steadily trailed Cuomo by 30 points or more in opinion polls.
But first she faces off against Cuomo, 60, in the state's Democratic primary on Thursday. She said so in an August economic report and reiterated this claim during the gubernatorial debate, arguing labor unions need more independence from the political system and corporate pressure.
"It is apples and oranges, and to disclose an off the record exchange that had been agreed to by the New York Post is a violation of journalistic ethics", Collins added.
In the lieutenant governor's race, City Councilman Jumaane Williams is looking to unseat incumbent Kathy Hochul.
In a reversal, Schumer also offered her stamp of approval to Cuomo this week. Bernie Sanders and the editorial board of the New York Times, which said she is well prepared to serve as a firewall against the Trump administration and keep tabs on "a state government in which ethics can seem a mere inconvenience".

It is the day of New York's primary elections, which will determine, in addition to other contests, which Democrat will move forward in the race for governor.
President Donald Trump might want to keep an eye on the attorney general primary. "It might be closer than he prefers, or the polls could be right for a change, but usually when they have spreads this big, things collapse down", Cunningham said. The victor will face Republican Marc Molinaro in the fall.
