Evans confirmed that earlier this year when he announced he would be retiring from his Marvel role. The image was then analyzed by plenty of fans who thought the Russos hid clues that would help them reveal the Avengers 4 title.
He has reprised the role of Steve Rogers aka Captain America numerous times over the years for The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man Homecoming and Avengers: Infinity War, as well as the upcoming untitled Avengers film, due to be released next year.
"Officially wrapped on Avengers 4", Evans wrote on Twitter. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories!
Chris Evans has appeared to confirm that Avengers 4 will officially be Captain America's last big screen outing.
Evans being written out of the franchise might not be a sure thing, as the actor is known to be a social media hype master.
Avengers 4 will conclude this iteration of the series, with Marvel chief Kevin Feige hinting that the new roster would be more diverse and have at least 50% women. "And then we'll go back into the global tour, we'll go on tour".
Avengers 4 has recently been in reshoots in the U.S., ahead of its release next year.
"Well we're doing reshoots starting in September", Ruffalo said to the Marvelists podcast a few months back. (14 million, six hundred and five of them, perhaps?) Given what we know of the Infinity War ending being kept tightly under wraps, even from the stars, we could all-maybe some of the cast included-be in for a lot of surprises, and not all of them good.
Avengers 4 will hit theaters May 3, 2019.
