Kate Middleton goes off-the-shoulder for night at the museum

Celebrity stylist Rochelle White told FEMAIL: 'Kate's latest look is something different from her usual style.

Kate, 36, wowed in a checked midi dress by one of her favourite designers, Erdem, as she visited the V&A museum in west London.

She paired the outfit with nude heels and a pale lavender handbag.

Another policy up for discussion is a declaration committing to putting mental health on an equal footing with physical health.

Kate's appearance came ahead of World Mental Health Day on Wednesday.

The Duke and Duchess viewed a work stream on "Children, Young People and the Next Generation" where they listened to presentations on two case studies of active mental health programmes in Slovenia and the US.

During the event, William aimed a good-natured ribbing at his wife after Middleton, who studied art history at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, added a brushstroke to artist Dairo Vargas' painting.

The couple sat on a Friendship Bench, a mental health initiative from Zimbabwe.

You can see more on that here and while Kate was at the exhibition, she had a chat with Martin Barnes who is one of the senior curators of photography at the much-esteemed museum.

It's the royal couple's first joint public duty since Kate gave birth to Prince Louis on 23 April.

She has expressed her love for photography and has taken portraits of her children Prince George and Princess Charlotte in the past.

Erdem is a much beloved designer of the royals, with speculation around whether the brand has designed Princess Eugenie's wedding dress for her nuptials on Friday.
