MTV Star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino Gets 8 Month Prison Sentence

Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino was sentenced to eight months behind bars and two years of supervised release today after his conviction on a single count of tax evasion in January. Marc Sorrentino was also sentenced Friday to two years in prison for his role in the scheme.

The Sorrentinos were arrested over the tax offenses in 2014.

That would be Jenni "JWoww" Farley, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Deena Cortese, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Vinny Guadagnino, Pauly "DJ Pauly D" DelVecchio, and Angelina Pivarnick.

Michael "The Situation" Sorrentino arrives at the courthouse to plead guilty to charges of tax evasion.

Sorrentino first hit the public spotlight when Jersey Shore debuted, with the show quickly becoming a cultural phenomenon and making instant stars out of its hard-partying cast members. "People can look at me and say, 'If he can do it, I can'".

In pre-sentencing documents obtained by the Associated Press on Thursday, attorneys for the MTV star said they hoped to get him probation, citing Sorrentino's struggles with substance abuse during the time.

Sorrentino's brother, Marc, also has pleaded guilty and faces sentencing Friday. They went on to accuse the pair of earning $8.9 million between 2010 and 2012-and completely failing to pay federal taxes. As the world remembers, the entire Jersey Shore cast was earning hefty paychecks shortly after the show premiered on December 3, 2009.

He has paid restitution in the amount of $123,913 already.

Sorrentino starred on the MTV series from 2009 to 2012.
