Memphis Grizzlies to trade Marc Gasol to Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors acquired three-time All-Star Marc Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies prior to this afternoon's National Basketball Association trade deadline.

The Raptors will also send Delon Wright, CJ Miles, and a 2024 second-round pick to the Grizzlies.

Toronto (39-16) is two games back of the Milwaukee Bucks (40-13) atop the Eastern Conference.

The 34-year-old has a one year remaining on a five-year $110 million contract he signed in 2015. Both teams have yet to confirm the deal.

"I think that there's a lot of positives with a guy like Gasol, and I think majority come with being battle-tested", Nurse said.

The Memphis Grizzlies have reportedly decided on a trade featuring All-Star big man Marc Gasol.

Gasol, meanwhile, could be in the Raptors' lineup Saturday in NY pending a team physical.

Valanciunas was cleared to play today after missing 25 games with a dislocated left thumb and was expected in Toronto's lineup for Thursday's game at Atlanta. Valanciunas was averaging 12.8 points and 7.2 rebounds at the time of his injury. He is averaging 6.9 points, 2.2 assists and 2.6 rebounds in 18.3 minutes per game this season.

The Hornets have needed a second star player to put next to Kemba Walker for years now, and Marc Gasol could be the guy they have been looking for.

Miles has been mired in a season-long slump, but had shown flashes of breaking out of it in the last couple of weeks, and Wright has a creativity and feel for the game that's unique, even if he had been inconsistent this season.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A day after trading Marc Gasol to Toronto, the owner of the Memphis Grizzlies says the franchise will retire the center's No. 33 jersey some day in the future.

Teodosic has proven himself as a capable shooter when healthy (37.8 percent on threes since joining the NBA), but gambling on the 31-year-old staying healthy could dissuade the Raptors from pursuing him.
