Disney Website Adds Avatar And Simpsons Images After Fox Merger

The newly minted company, which consists mainly of the Fox broadcast network, Fox News and local TV stations, also announced it will hold an investor conference on May 9. These assets are now apart of a new company called FOX Corp.

Entitled "A Historic Day for Our Company", the memo reads in part, "I'd like to welcome our new colleagues, and thank employees on both sides of the deal for your patience and perseverance as we worked through the lengthy acquisition and regulatory process ..."

He went on to say, "we look forward to working with and being guided by them as we begin a new chapter".

It hopes with the addition of Fox, it will be able to provide high-quality content and entertainment options to meet growing consumer demand, increase its worldwide footprint and expand its direct-to-consumer offerings, which include ESPN+ for sports fans, Disney+ streaming video-on-demand service launching in late 2019, and both parties combined stakes in Hulu.

Last night, the $71.3 billion acquisition of large parts of 21st Century Fox by the Mouse House completed, the legendary studio's homepage now emblazoned with Fox-owned characters. News Corp, Murdoch's other company and a prior iteration of Fox, still contains the Murdoch family's print news and global businesses, like Sky News Australia.

Disney won a bidding war in 2018 against cable giant Comcast to acquire the assets.

Exactly what this means for the future of FOX programming is still unknown.

In addition to that it gets Fox's regional sports networks, dozens of big TV properties like The Simpsons, Family Guy and Modern Family and the enormous Star India channel. The sale represents the end of an era for Rupert Murdoch, the 88-year-old media mogul who steered the Fox studio for almost four decades.
