Jaylen Brown: Boston Celtics have 'toxic' environment

Ever since Kyrie Irving was asked about joining the New York Knicks in the offseason and his subsequent status with the Boston Celtics, the superstar player has started to become irritated with the media.

That clearly won't go over well in the locker room, along with what Kyrie Irving and Marcus Morris have said in the past.

Despite being one of the league's top talents, Kyrie Irving's value to the Celtics has been called into question quite a bit over the course of the campaign.

Celtics forward Jaylen Brown is concerned with Boston's recent slide, saying the team's atmosphere is "toxic", according to The Boston Globe's Gary Washburn.

There has also been the matter of Irving's media sessions, which have waffled between long and tense, with Irving questioning the role and motive of the media, or Irving going into a shell and giving terse, vague answers.

Kyrie Irving has been at odds with a lot of things lately.

"For me, it's not really about the loss, it's about the attitude that we're playing with", Morris told reporters. Kyrie Irving told reporters, "I don't owe anybody s--", when asked about his free agency on February 1. "I don't see the joy in the game".

Some in the National Basketball Association world questioned Irving's comments, noting that he starred in the film "Uncle Drew" last summer and is reportedly set to star in a movie about the Skirvin Hotel in Oklahoma City. "I wanted those things when I was younger but now at this point in my career I just want to play basketball at a very, very high level and the distractions that come within the team sometimes can get overwhelming so, I'm human".

"I can't wait for all this other B.S. about the regular season, keep getting better, talking over and over and over again about what we can do to keep getting better playing in the regular season", Irving said.

Irving could turn a corner and bring his game to a new level once the postseason begins.

It's easy to point to the Celtics' success last season while making an anti-Irving argument, but let's not forget why they fell one win short of reaching the Finals.

The season has been a struggle and Irving has gotten frustrated.

Multiple reports have stated how close both Davis and Irving are and it has been suggested they could try and team up in the near future.
